Vote By Mail
IF YOU APPLIED TO VOTE BY MAIL FOR THE FEBRUARY 26TH, 2019 MUNICIPAL ELECTION, YOU WILL NOT AUTOMATICALLY RECEIVE ANOTHER VOTE BY MAIL BALLOT FOR THE APRIL 2ND RUNOFF MUNICIPAL ELECTION.
Part 1: Applying to Vote By Mail
- The Chicago Board of Elections will begin accepting vote by mail applications beginning March 5th
- Ballots are expected to be mailed to voters by March 18th
- The deadline for submitting a vote by mail application is March 28th
- Try to submit your vote by mail application by March 20th to ensure your ballot arrives by April 2nd

Part 2: Mailing your Ballot
- When marking your ballot, use a blue or black tip pen (DO NOT USE A THICK MARKER)
- You, or your immediate relative, may hand deliver your ballot to the Board of Elections at 75 W. Washington St.
- You may mail your ballot using USPS or a state-licensed motor carrier (FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc. etc.)
- Your ballot must be postmarked on or before April 2nd. If it is not, it cannot, by law, be counted
- If you mail your ballot in the afternoon or evening of April 2nd, your ballot is at risk of being not counted
Common Issues
- If you have any problem before March 28th, please call 312-269-7967
- If you have any problems after March 28th, you may vote early or on election day at a polling place and have your vote by mail ballot voided
- If you received a vote by mail ballot and wish to void it, please make sure to bring it with you to your polling place
